Does your swimming pool still have its sparkle?
The summer heat has stuck around for the last few weeks and there doesn’t look to be an end in sight!
The summer temperature brings everyone into the backyard to enjoy a nice cool dip in the pool, or maybe just to splash around and have some fun.
After having all of your family and friends at the pool, have you noticed that your pool just isn’t sparkling like it use to? Even after shocking?!
There are a few reasons, but the two most common are over cleaning or backwashing of your filter and turning the pump off.
Sand and DE filters work best when they are slightly dirty because the additional dirt actually helps trap the smaller particles of dirt and impurities from circulating into the pool again. Allow the pressure on the gauge to increase to about 10 psi above regular clean pressure prior to completing the backwash/bump process again.
Ok, the other most common issue is turning the pump off. It doesn’t matter if it’s during the day or night, Pool World recommends the filtration system run 24 hours a day. The more circulation and filtration the pool receives the healthier, clearer and more enjoyable the pool will be! If you do wish or prefer to turn the system off, turn it off just before you go to bed and turn it back on first thing in the morning.
