Winter Maintenance - January 16, 2017

The weather is warming above freezing for a few days over the next ten days. On one of the warmer days would be a perfect time to venture out to your backyard and check on your swimming pool and hot tub.

Since your swimming pool was closed during the fall, there was probably a cover placed over it to prevent debris from falling into the pool during the winter. This cover could be covered in a lot of snow and ice. If you haven’t removed any of this snow, it is recommended to use a long soft bristled broom to pull off as much of the snow as possible. Removing the snow will reduce the snow weight and will help to extend the life of the winter cover. This includes removing snow from around the pool on the decks.

If you don’t have a swimming pool but a hot tub, now’s the time to remove the snow from around the hot tub and change or clean the filters. This may only take a few moments but will make the next use more enjoyable! Cleaning your filters and doing general maintenance will also help to preserve the water in your hot tub longer.

If you have any questions about either of these recommendations, please do not hesitate to contact your local Pool World location.
